On Thursday 17th June a group of people from Rampworx were lucky enough to attend the Community Foundation Awards night at the prestigious Anglican Cathedral. We had been nominated for the Young Transformers Award, which is basically an award for projects that help young people.
Last year Rampworx was awarded 3 grants to help develop the skatepark and these included a Video Project, the creation of the Mac suite and this summer Rampworx will be able to offer free and discounted entry for underprivileged local groups and young people. The event itself was amazing. There must have ben at least 300 people there and we all had to dress up pretty smart (suits!), which was a pretty new experience for the likes of Jonny Oates and Andy Gilbert! 🙂 We all enjoyed a great 3 course meal and met some of the local politicians, the Duke of Westminster and Roger Phillips from the BBC. It was great to see other youth projects there too and we had been selected as one of four projects in Merseyside to win the award. Unfortunately, we didn’t win this year, but that was Ok as another great local project won and to be fair it was just great to be nominated… after all it was our third year running so we must be doing well! Hopefully next year we will be nominated again. Thanks to everyone who supports Rampworx every week too and helping us get where we are.
