With their recent visit to these shores still fresh in the memory, FIDLAR announce the release of their debut album ‘FIDLAR’ on 4th February.
Formed a couple of years back, weened on a diet of house parties, skateboarding and generally enjoying life to the max, LA’s  FIDLAR  have come to the fore with their own take on their influences – surfier, faster, more fuzzed out, more personal and almost certainly more drunk than any of them. Live shows have also included tracks by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Warren Zevon and Blink 182 amongst others and does further to enhance their reputation.
The album, recorded and self-produced at the band’s home studio with mixing duties handled by Rob Schnapf (Elliot Smith, Beck, Guided By Voices) is fourteen slices of insanely catchy and aptly titled punk rock tunes that look set to become favourites over the coming months.
The band’s recent UK shows saw the quartet completely win over a burgeoning fanatical audience and will undoubtedly see similar scenes on their return early in 2013…
Meanwhile for those who either missed out or fucked up, FIDLAR return to wreak further havoc with shows as follows:
February
21st Birmingham Academy 3
22nd Dublin Academy 2
24th Bristol Louisiana
25th London The Garage – NME Awards show
26th Oxford Academy 2
27th Brighton The Haunt
28th Leeds Cockpit
***with more to be announced
Tickets are available (stbf) for all UK shows – www.livenation.co.uk and Ireland – www.ticketmaster.ie
Rampworx has an exclusive FIDLAR skate deck as well as FIDLAR t-shirts and digital copies of the album to give away!!! All you have to do is answer the following question in the comments section.
FIDLAR formed in which American city?
A) LA
B) New York
C) Chicago Read More
As you are aware Rampworx has operated ‘Scooter Only’ sessions for over 18 months to appease our current user groups by not allowing scooters in on general sessions. However Scooters will now be allowed in until 6pm on weekdays, and on weekends until 4pm.
Whilst we have endeavored to not mix scootering with all other sports this has become increasingly more difficult having been lobbied by the scooter fraternity to allow them in on general sessions. This is on top of a decline in numbers attending the skatepark by our existing core users. To ensure the long term sustainability of our charity we have decided to allow scooters into the skatepark during specific early sessions effective immediately.
This is a decision that has not been taken lightly and we understand that there will be a number of users that will not be happy with this decision. However, in order for us to offer the same level of service for all sports (as with all other Skateparks in the UK) this is necessary. Please be aware that without ALL extreme sports paying into the Rampworx project it will simply die. So its a simple choice really and we need all of you to support our project regardless of the sports that you do.
For reference, we will continue to offer segregated sports nights on Mondays. This is to keep us in line with every other skatepark in the country and to allow you the opportunity to ride periodically with your own sport.
We hope you understand and continue to support your project.
Check out the video from our Scooter night above which is currently standing at 1,051,345 downloads on YouTube!!

Last year Professional BMX rider Brett “Maddog” Banasiewicz won the Dew Cup in Ocean City, MD for BMX Park. A few days later he was competing again at the Vans Invitational at Virginia Beach contest. During the contest Brett had an extremely bad fall which rendered him unconscious, he was rushed to hospital in critical condition. The injury left him with serious brain damage which resulted in Brett having to learn to walk and speak again. Thankfully the Athlete Recovery Fund is available to help professional athletes like Brett that require assistance to help them recover.
This is a truly inspirational video of Maddog making a comeback from his injury. We hope to see Brett on his bike again soon. Please make sure whenever you ride you wear a helmet that is up to the job and also support the Athlete Recovery Fund.
“Crooked World goes behind the scenes as Brett “Maddog” Banasiewicz kick, punch, pedals and squats his way back to BMX. Brett’s Dad Bill gives you the rundown on his daily rehab including a look at Brett’s hyperbaric chamber and speech therapy session. Stay Strong #Maddog. Filmed in Dallas, Texas by Tristan Afre.
